Small team. Fierce purpose.
Our vision, mission
& core belief
A world where the future of rich, diverse and healthy coral reefs is assured.
To accelerate the actions vital to the survival of coral reefs through innovative science, education and engagement — powered by our agility, creativity and uniquely collaborative approach.
"Together, there are no Barriers too Great to save our Reefs"
Great Barrier Reef Legacy is an innovative not-for-profit social enterprise committed to the long-term survival of the Great Barrier Reef and coral reefs around the world. We are small but fiercely passionate and deeply dedicated, united by a shared purpose.
Our values
Reflecting who we are, how we work together,
and how we turn purpose into action.
We care deeply about the Reef and the communities connected to it. Protecting nature for future generations is at the heart of everything we do.
We get more done when we work together. We team up with many different people, organisations and industries to drive faster, stronger action for the Reef.
We recognise Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples as the Traditional Custodians of the Great Barrier Reef. We respect their knowledge, culture and connection to Country, and are committed to working in genuine partnership to care for and heal Country together.
We're honest, accountable and guided by evidence. We own our decisions, learn from what works (and what doesn't) and keep finding better ways to help the Reef.
We look after each other. We value everyone's wellbeing, background and strengths, and we support one another to grow, learn and do our best work.

John Rumney
A visionary, storyteller and founding force behind Great Barrier Reef Legacy, John Rumney dedicated his life to connecting people with the wonder of coral reefs.
